Axl Advanced Node Pouch - Tier 1 Eclipse belt upgrade

This week we take a look at the Axl Advanced Node Pistol mag pouch to see if this is a worthwhile upgrade for your Axl Eclipse or other battle belts. After this video was uploaded the Node came in stock. May the gods favor the shipping of your purchase.... The first thing you'll notice is that it uses double elastic reinforcement to keep the mag pouch from collapsing on itself. This is a problem that comes up when trying to reindex when using the horrible elastic mag pouches that companies try to sell you as operator gear. Reindexing is an absolute breeze in any situation and the pouch also has a tapered design so it makes the mag pouch more secure, the further it is set into the pouch. Unlike kydex designs, the elastic allows the pouch to expand for a large variety of magazine sizes. From double stack to 2011 to even weirdo beardo airsoft mags, the pouch performed fantastically. And I'll say that it didn't matter which mag I was using and what orientation it was in, there was always significant tension on the mag to keep it in place but then also allow it to be retrieved easily. If you wanted additional retention you could also use the top slits to add in bungee retention (not included). The rear of the Node pouch is where the real magic happens with the tegris backing. This backing gives the pouch much of its rigidity but it also does something really really cool, it allows the pouch to cant. And not just in one direction like many other pouches. Included with the node pouch is a small big of tegris, a grommet, and a screw. You slide in the tegris along the back of the pouch to give the orientation you desire. Once it's through, you insert the grommet and you can put the pouch in place. Once situated, take the top tab over the bottom tab and tighten the screw. This gives a great pouch that is secured on the Axl belt extremely tightly. Now you could also use 3/4 inch one wrap and use the same orientation tricks for belts like a Ronin Senshi, Blue Force Gear Grid, or Attack Pak. But I found the tegris worked slightly better on the Axl Eclipse due to the reduced hook and loop area on the rear of the belt. Axl also sells the node conversion kit which adapts any single molle pouch into the same node orientation. This conversion kit uses the same tegris bit for orientation as we saw on the Node, the same grommet and screw, but then uses two adapters that slide into the top and bottom of the pouch molle to give the same orientation options as the node pouch. I found the conversion kit worked extremely well and our Grim Hunter Tactical meshtastic pouch was awesome in that it was now easier to retrieve my mesh device off my belt. And the whole mesh device sat in a better orientation to not run into my plate carrier or any other gear. DISCLAIMER: This post may contain paid advertisements or affiliate links.
