Slightly Less Hot Air Intake? Cutting into the Miata.

Will cutting a hole similar to the one on the drivers side help get cooler air into the intake after moving it to the passenger side? Maybe a little? I don't know but cutting this hole is actually the first step in trying to get cooler air in. I initially was going to stop at just the short ram intake but cutting this hole only cost me a little bit of time. next will be ducting, just need to cut up my bumper...
