In my recent adventure with the DJI Air 2S drone I landed in Twin Falls, Idaho to run some tests. I gained some insights that I think will make a difference, especially if you own an Air 2S. Initially, I picked up this drone to capture some epic shots for a Stargate fan film project. I discovered the importance of investing in stronger ND filters for better exposure control, using a landing pad to protect the camera lens and drone, and upgrading to the DJI RC Controller for a more seamless flying experience. I share some color grading tips about filming in D-Log to capture a wider dynamic range. Before taking off, I discovered the significance of double-checking all drone and camera settings to avoid any unwanted surprises. Exploring the various tracking modes of the drone, I found the parallel tracking feature to be particularly amazing, allowing me to set the drone on a path while I focused on other aspects of the shoot. It's crucial to fly within your comfort zone and gradually challenge yourself, ensuring safety and optimal results. Using drones for film production has opened up endless possibilities for capturing cinematic shots. Interestingly, even platforms like Netflix allow 10% of non-certified camera footage in their films. With the DJI Air 2S drone setup, I'm confident in my ability to achieve the shots I envision for the Stargate fan film project without breaking the bank.
