Presented By: Marie A. Gonzalez & Ron Abruzzese, BS Speaker Biography: Marie graduated with a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Texas, Austin. Since joining the Sample Prep R&D group in 2010, she has been involved in numerous successful product launches for nucleic acid extraction methods, with a primary focus on high-throughput applications. Marie has helped develop and launch some major bead-based products within the Applied Biosystems™ MagMAX™ chemistry product lines including applications for nucleic acid isolation from FFPE, genomic DNA isolation from various sample types, true total RNA isolation from various sample types with workflow enablement on Thermo Scientific™ KingFisher™ instruments. Marie’s efforts and leadership directly contributed to the launch of the Thermo Scientific™ KingFisher™ PlasmidPro Maxi Processor and Cartridge from inception to launch. Ron has worked as part of Thermo Fisher Scientific R&D since 2008 contributing to a variety of functions and sample prep projects. During his tenure, he has contributed to multiple projects including sample preparation, analysis of nucleic acids, and plasmid DNA isolation. He has led the development of various product lines and specializes in automation compatible magnetic bead-based kits and workflows especially for plasmid preparation. The purification of plasmid DNA (pDNA) is essential in molecular biology research. Over the years, plasmid DNA isolation technology has provided researchers with multiple efficient methods for isolating and purifying pDNA for specific applications.
