Walking in the clouds at Doi Pha Tang. Doi Pha Tang is around 160km away from Chiang Rai city not far from Phu Chi Fah, Pha Tang is a little town on the Thai-Laos boarder. The locals here are mainly Chinese Yunan people mixed with Thai . They speak alot of Chinese in this area and there is alot of Chinese influence in terms of food and culture. On top of Doi Pha Tang you can see the Thai-Laos boarder and also the great Mekong river is visible from here. Doi Pha Tang has a deep history linking Laos, Thailand and the Chinese whom migrated here from Yunan. This area has beautiful nature and good weather all year round. To get up here, it is best that you contact a local guide as the road leading up to the peak will need a 4WD to access, not the mention the heavy fog that will affect you visibility. The Peaks are about a 20 minutes walk away from the car parking area. If you come during October - December the climate here will be cool and many mountain flowers will be blooming.
