We took a day trip to the iconic Osaka Expo Park in Osaka, Japan. The park hosted the 1970 World Expo and contains acres of tranquil gardens, a shopping mall, tons of restaurants, a massive Ferris wheel–and best of all–a unique statue that towers over it all. The Tower of the Sun, a wonderfully weird 70-meter-tall sculpture by artist Taro Okamoto, is the highlight of the park. Once you’re done snapping a million photos of the outside, you can head inside and actually climb a spiral staircase to the top. It’s an unforgettable experience!
