This DIY is A-MEOW-ZING! 😻 Craft your own dollhouse from recycled cardboard inspired by Gabby's Dollhouse! Gabby's Dollhouse is now streaming on Netflix! SUPPLIES: - Rectangular cardboard box - Two pieces of scrap cardboard - Additional cardboard scraps for the door, heart nose, and support triangle - 4 straws - Hot glue gun - Ruler and craft knife (adults only) - Gesso (primer), paint, and paintbrush - 2 paper towel tubes - White washi tape - 3 self-adhesive velcro dots - 3 pipe cleaners - 2 beads for door knobs INSTRUCTIONS: 1. We used a shallow rectangular box. Use one of the tall sides of the box as the front of the house (the flaps will become the front walls). If there is tape on the box, remove it and re-close the back flaps with hot glue. Cut off the flap of one of the short sides (this will be the bottom of the house). 2. Draw cat ears on the roof flap and windows on both long flaps. (You can make a cardboard rectangle template to trace for the windows.) Use the craft knife to cut windows and roof ears. 3. Prime everything white that you will be painting (optional) for brighter colors. Paint the box, 2-floor pieces, 2 paper towel tubes, eyes, heart, and door pieces. 4. Hot glue a small cardboard triangle behind the head to keep it from flopping. 5. Determine the inside height of the box and divide this by 3. Cut the paper towel tubes so you have 3 cut to this length. Lay them down the center and slide each cardboard "floor" between them. (Trim the tubes down if needed to fit the cardboard.) Trim the 4 straws down to the depth of the box and hot glue one under the side of each floor as supports. Squeeze some hot glue behind each tube to adhere them to the back wall. 6. Glue the cat earpiece to the top of the door. Glue on a pipe cleaner doorway and bead door knobs. Center the door over the front of the bottom of the house and hot glue the right half to the right front flap side. Add Velcro dots to the back of the other side of the door and the left house flap. Add tape stripes for decoration. Glue pipe cleaner trim to the circle windows and glue them and the heart nose to the roof.
