HDCP, for basic purposes, means HD Copyright and is used to prevent recording over HDMI. Your computer is probably using HDCP while watching Netflix, and most DVRs or cable boxes output with HDCP as well. The only video game console that uses HDCP without the option to turn it off is the Playstation 3, requiring you to use component cables or an HDCP stripper. The Xbox One and Playstation 4 give you options to turn off HDCP while playing video games, but it will turn on when watching movies or Blu-rays. The Wii U and Xbox 360 don't have HDCP at all. If for some reason recording with HDMI still doesn't work try using RCA or component cables if available. With any questions not explained in this video, use Google or contact Blackmagic support. While each capture card software is different, the setup is largely the same for all of them. Capture cards are used to capture video and audio from your consoles or any other device with an audio/video output, such as DVD players or cameras. The one in this video is the Blackmagic Intensity Pro which is a series of external capture cards connecting through USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt, which means you require a relatively updated computer to be able to capture from one. Sometimes even if your computer supports USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt the Intensity capture card flat out won't work. If you're having issues like this then something from Avermedia might be more compatible.
