Cinderella (1899) | The First Film Adaptation

CINDERELLA is a French silent short film produced by Star Film. It was release on December 25, 1899 in the United States. #Cinderella #fairytale #silentfilm #publicdomainfilms #publicdomainmovies A fairy godmother magically turns Cinderella's rags to a beautiful dress, and a pumpkin into a coach. Cinderella goes to the ball, where she meets the Prince - but will she remember to leave before the magic runs out? It's based on the book Cinderella by Charles Perrault. This is (perhaps) the first film to use photographic dissolves, or fades, as a transition effect. This was done using Georges Melies' method of in-camera editing. Méliès' made a second adaption of this classical fairy-tale:    • Cinderella (1912) | The First Cindere...   Director: Georges Méliès Writer: Charles Perrault (book) Cast: Mlle Barral as Cinderella Bleuette Bernon as The Fairy Godmother Carmelli as Prince Charming Jehanne d'Alcy as Fairy Godmother Dupeyron as Party Guest Georges Méliès as Le gnome de la pendule /Le suisse à l'entrée de l'église (uncredited) This film is in the public domain meaning it has been identified as being free of known restrictions under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights. You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. Companies lobbied Congress to get the copyright laws extended by 20 years, twice! Because of that, it allows published works to be under copyright for almost a century and corporations to squeeze the last ounce of profit from them long after the profitability has past. It keeps people from enjoying art, which is the purpose of art. End Slate Video: ForFilm Creation -    • OLD FILM BORDER OVERLAY FOR VIDEO CRE...
