It's a relaxing slow living day perfect for making whole wheat waffles and a great excuse to have a brunch. I have seriously fond memories of spending weekends with my Grandma; she would get up early to make us crispy golden waffles and fluffy, cheesy eggs for breakfast. They were the best, and she always used these heavy old vintage waffle irons that now have got to be sixty years old.  I had to make up my own whole wheat waffle recipe because my sweet grandma used all-purpose flour ( which is fine), but I wanted a complete wheat version.
