Heroes | The Rise and Fall of a Potential Classic

Ah Heroes. One of TV’s greatest punching bags…but not without reason. Heroes is one of those series that always tends to have the same criticisms: “Amazing Season 1, but it’s all downhill from there”. And there’s a lot of truth to that statement. It’s no secret that the first season is beloved, and every season after that is a mixed bag. Personally, Heroes is a show I’ve always had a little nostalgia for. It’s one of the first shows I got really into, and even though my tastes have changed over time, I do enjoy some parts of Heroes as much as I used to. That said, it’s far from perfect. Heroes has had a very rough journey, and as you watch some of the later seasons, it’s easy to forget that at one point, it was an actual, honest to god great show. Some of the show’s faults weren’t entirely on the shoulders of the production team, but at the same time, they aren’t entirely absolved either.
