The drone industry is booming, with applications ranging from photography, surveillance, and agriculture to surveying, cargo delivery, and beyond. Yet, the cloud of misconceptions hovering over this dynamic field causes confusion for professionals, hobbyists, and regulators alike. Industry experts Jonathan Daniels and Jonathan Rupprecht have dedicated their careers to drone accessibility and acceptance. They help drone operators and their clients, as well as the general public and legislators, better understand the truth surrounding the safety, accountability, and legal operation of uncrewed aircraft systems (UASs). Jonathan Daniels is the CEO of Praxis Aerospace Concepts International (PACI), a service-disabled veteran–owned small business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Searchlight, Nevada. PACI provides practical solutions for multimodal (ground–air–sea–industry) response robot systems and infrastructure. Daniels is also special advisor–emerging technology to the HAI Board of Directors. Jonathan Rupprecht is an aviation attorney and the owner of Rupprecht Law, P.A., in Jupiter, Florida. He is also a commercial multi-engine airplane pilot with flight instructor and instrument instructor ratings. He has been instrumental in striking down antidrone laws and helping clients obtain hundreds of waivers, airspace authorizations, exemptions, and operating certificates.
