Sri Narasimha Jayanti, a highly auspicious occasion, commemorates the divine appearance of Lord Narasimha, incarnation of Lord Krishna. This year, we celebrate this festival on Sunday, May 11, 2025, which falls on the Chaturdashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the Vaishakha month. Across the world, devotees eagerly observe this day to honour Lord Narasimha, seeking His blessings for protection, spiritual growth, and liberation from all fears and disturbances. Lord Narasimha's appearance is legendary, as He took the fierce form to protect His beloved devotee, Prahlada, and to vanquish the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who had become a menace to the entire universe. At ISKCON Vaikuntha Hill in Vasanthapura, the celebrations begin early in the morning with a powerful and sacred Narasimha Homa (fire sacrifice) at 8 AM, conducted in front of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha temple. The sacred flames of the Homa fills devotees' hearts with devotion as they participate in this auspicious ritual. Following the Homa, at 11 AM, the mula vigraha of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha receives a grand abhishek. This grand ceremony is a moment of deep reverence as devotees watch the Lord being adorned with sacred offerings and prayers to His divine form. After the abhisheka, a pravachan (spiritual discourse) is given, focusing on the glories of Lord Narasimha, His miraculous appearance, and His protection of the innocent and the righteous. The pravachan is an enlightening and thought-provoking session, where the story of Lord Narasimha’s divine intervention and the lessons from His pastimes are shared. The morning celebrations conclude with an arati, a traditional ceremony where the Deities are offered lamps and prayers, and devotees sing the holy hymns of praise, immersing themselves in the Lord’s divine presence. This marks the culmination of the morning festivities, leaving the devotees spiritually uplifted and blessed by the Lord’s grace. Sri Narasimha Jayanti is not only a day of celebration but also a day of reflection on the profound lessons imparted by Lord Narasimha’s incarnation. His appearance is a reminder of the Lord's infinite power to protect His devotees from any harm, no matter how insurmountable the obstacles may seem. Lord Narasimha's mercy knows no bounds, and He is always ready to defend His devotees from all spiritual and material dangers.
