The new 2024 Ford Ranger massively improves on the old Ford Ranger, which was a mediocre light pickup truck. With the midsize truck space heating up and the debut of the new Toyota Tacoma along with the new Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, the Ford Ranger brings the same turbo 4 cylinder power to the fight along with a class exclusive twin turbo V6. The new Ford Ranger also brings the first ever Ford Ranger Raptor to the class, which packs A TON of value for a midsize truck starting under $60k. After living with the Ford Ranger Lariat trim for a week, what's our review of the Ford Ranger? Comfort and convenience are a priority, and the Ford Ranger Lariat is just as functional as you'd expect a Ford truck to be. It's plush where the Toyota Tacoma is a bit firmer, but the Tacoma has a larger and more comprehensive infotainment screen. Either way, the new Ford Ranger is a huge step up from the last gen, and it feels more in line with the prices midsize trucks are commanding now. With basic 4wd, a rear locker, and a decent options package in Lariat trim, people might find this $52k truck enticing, BUT... the Chevy Colorado can be similarly optioned for a shade less.
