When Moses was told to return to Egypt to lead the Israelites out, Moses did not want to do it. He was scared and shirking his responsibility to the point the Bible says that the anger of God was kindled against Moses. But surprisingly he didn’t take Moses’ rod and beat him into submission. God sent his brother Aaron along with him and in Exodus 4, God tells Moses, “And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs” And in verse 20, it is referred to as “the rod of God”. And this rod is used throughout the 10 plagues and so when the Israelites finally leave Egypt and are faced with the Red Sea and they’re scared and angry, God says to Moses, in Exodus 14:15-16,” Why do you cry out to me tell the children of Israel to go forward, but lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it.” Interesting that God didn’t say take that rod and discipline these ungrateful brats. And Aaron’s rod, which identified him as the High Priest and was so special it was kept with the ark of the covenant. To be continued in the next reel…. #christianparenting #christianfamily
