Challenge 1 Design a Truss – A backbone of the international space centre that’s still in orbit today. In the early days no one had any idea as to what shape works best in space. Trusses seemed to be the best design. GroupWise activity of an engineering challenge of designing a truss that can hold maximum amount of weight Challenge 2 Design a rocket out of the materials given. Tested imagination of how to be a design engineer to create and launch a rocket Challenge 3 Make a multipurpose crew vehicle. A bag was given with all the materials to design a capsule that would carry cargo from the top of a building to the ground. Other activities included training in a multi axis trainer to experience what an astronaut goes through in space. Practise with a ladder which is counterbalanced that gives the experience of weightlessness like when going for scuba diving. Figure out how the planets are moving simultaneously in space. Visited the Kennedy Space Center, took the bus tour and saw the historic launch pads, The students also witnessed the launch of Atlas 5 rocket launch, live!
