⚡️ Tesla’s Spring 2025.14.x software activates adaptive headlights in the U.S., now legally approved by the NHTSA. In this video, I show how the feature works and how Tesla’s software optimizes the lighting. Hopefully, you’ll be able to see it in action — it’s not easy to capture on camera in the dark, but I did my best! 😜 Background Info: Adaptive headlights are advanced vehicle lighting systems that automatically adjust the direction and range of your car’s headlights based on driving conditions. Specifically, they: • Swivel in the direction of steering to better illuminate curves in the road. • Adjust the beam pattern in real time to avoid blinding oncoming drivers while still providing maximum visibility for the driver. • Use cameras and sensors to detect other vehicles and modify the high-beam distribution accordingly. • Often enhance visibility during turns, hills, and poor weather conditions. In Tesla’s case, the adaptive headlights work through software updates and onboard cameras, adjusting the LED beam pattern to improve nighttime driving safety without requiring driver input. The U.S. approved adaptive driving beam (ADB) headlights on February 15, 2022, when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a final rule amending Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108.
