Arranged for Orchestra by John Clovis A. Verano on Summer, 2024 Draft, 2020, November 07 Music: Pierre de Geyter, 1888 "The Internationale" is the one of the most famous Revolutionary Songs in the world. This original lyrics was written by Eugène Pottier in June 1871. He is a member of the Paris Commune. It was originally intended to be sung to the tune of "La Marseillaise" (the national anthem of French). In 1888, the Belgian socialist, Pierre Degeyter composed the melody known well today. So these lyrics became the symbols of the Paris Commune and all of the Resistances. In 1902, the communist translated it to Russian This song was spread all over the world by the socialist of each country. Because there were The Communist University of the National Minorities West and The Communist University of the Toilers of the East in Moscow. These were the international university for the communists from the foreign countries. It was the former national anthem of the Russian SFSR and then the Soviet Union The melody is diatonic and primarily moves stepwise, making it easy to sing. It begins with a strong ascending leap, reflecting a sense of urgency and determination. The first phrase starts on the tonic (C in C major) and ascends quickly to the dominant, creating a sense of motion. The second phrase resolves back to the tonic with stepwise motion, ensuring a singable and memorable contour. The chorus introduces a more triumphant and sweeping motion, with occasional leaps that emphasize the anthem’s stirring, declamatory nature.
