Field Experiences in Teacher Preparation Programs: Overview from a Study in Missouri (REL Central)

This webinar presents information contained in REL Central’s report Understanding field experiences in traditional teacher preparation programs in Missouri. Field experiences, which include student teaching and other teacher preparation activities such as observing classes or tutoring, are a component of nearly all teacher preparation programs and a centerpiece of national and state standards related to teacher preparation. REL Central researchers Stephen Meyer and Emma Espel were joined by a representative of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Gale “Hap” Hairston) and university faculty members (Kristien Zenkov from George Mason University and Kristine Pytash from Kent State University) who provided context and discussed implications of the study findings.
