I have always wanted to become a psychiatrist when I grow up and this interest has inspired me to research the medical knowledge gap that exists in our healthcare system today. I realized that the pandemic has exacerbated healthcare inequalities and many people don't fully understand the medical information behind their healthcare decisions. In my talk, I will discuss the root cause of low health literacy, examine its detrimental effects, and provide some helpful solutions to educate ourselves about healthcare. My name is Harini Senthil and I am a freshman at Jenks High School. I am an active member of the Jenks Speech and Debate team and play the violin in the school orchestra.
