Released to cassette by Canti Eretici Productions last Friday (19th), the debut demo from Australian one-man band Lautrec is an opening statement in the first of a planned series of albums. In Search Of The Waters Of Oblivion marks the beginning of a body of work that will explore this raw style of bm to its furthest corners, delivering four tracks of raw speed and a relentless intensity – even when the blasting drumming and sawing riffs unclench their fist, the space they open up remains intimidating, allowing the imposing vocal performance to dominate, exuding hatred, bile and violence. The musical mix of maliciously composed chaos and emotion is braced by foundational black metal themes which further enhance the potency of this debut offering. Lyrics cover apocalypse, murder, suicide, betrayal, the ruination of ancient dogma, the fragile psyche of collective and individual humanity, persistence through duress and the man's will to triumph over all.
