Eliud Kipchoge vs Kenenisa Bekele vs El Guerrouj - Epic Battle Eliud Vs Kenny Vs El: 00:04 Before he made a name as the greatest marathon runner in history, Eliud Kipchoge's sprint finish was legendary and this is the day he became a legend on the track. At the young age of 17, Kipchoge faced off against arguably the two greatest distance runners in history (for their respective events) in Hicham El Guerrouj or Morocco and Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia. Eliud was already the junior record holder in the 5000 meters. And was no slouch, but compared to the men he was racing, he was the underdog. This is the 2003 World Championship 5000m battle. The finish is still one of the most exciting finishes in distance running history. Especially when we go back in time from 2018 and realize how special of a race this truly was. Consider this: El Guerrouj ended his career as the GOAT at the 1500m and won a 5000m Olympic Gold Medal (2 Golds) Kenenisa Bekele had already won the 10,000 meters in this championship and would go on to win 3 Olympic Gold Medals (10,000 x2, 5000) and is regarded as the greatest cross-country runner to ever live. Now, Eliud Kipchoge is the greatest marathon runner in history. He is the current world record holder, has the world's fastest time (breaking 2 attempts) and he is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist. So we have 3 incredible runners sharing 6 Olympic Gold medals between them ranging from distances of 1500m all the way up to the marathon. This is the race of your dreams. After watching this, I encourage you to find the full video and have a look at it. You will see masterclass racing at its finest. Track & Field does not get any better than a race like this. 2. Mo Farah vs Ibrahim Jeilan A great race for the fans. Daegu South Korea. Mo Farah is on his come-up journey to become a 4-time Olympic Gold Medalist (5000m x2, 10000 x2) and Ibrahim Jeilan was an unheralded Ethiopian Runner, mostly unknown outside of the diehard track and field fans. This race will be remembered for Farah making his move too early and Jeilan cruising past him on the home stretch. Jeilan closed the last lap in an incredible 53.00 - What a race this was. Very memorable. 3. Jonathan Brownlee vs Javier Gomez A great sprint finish in London in 2013. Gomez is a fantastic triathlon finisher and has won many sprint finishes. He typically waits for the other runners to make a move first then launches his kick shortly afterward. 4. Eliud Kipchoge vs Bernard Lagat vs Kenenisa Bekele The 2009 World Championship 5000 meters saw an incredible race where the defending World Champion (Lagat) met the defending Olympic Champion (Bekele) as well as a host of other racers. Mo Farah was an also-ran in this race as this was before his big breakout where he became a 4-time gold medalist. This race came down to the wire with Lagat holding a slight lead over Bekele with around 50 meters to but. But Bekele willed himself to victory at the end of the race in thrilling fashion. This was the last time we really get to see Bekele on top of his game. Similar to Lagat. This was their greatest race against each other. 5. Centrowitz vs Izaic Yorks The reigning Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Centrowitz battles himself and the field here to win the 2018 USATF title. This race was Centrowitz to lose. He led the entire last 400m and was in a prime position. His finishing sprint was far superior to the other runners. Yorks came up big for 2nd place. 6. Coe Sebastian Coe racing against the clock on the last 150 meters of this race. The 1977 World Cup saw Coe run his last 200 meters in 25.1 seconds. This kind of speed was unheard of in the 70s. Coe dismantled this field easily and left his competition in the dust. 7. Steve Ovett vs Seb Coe vs Straub 8. Lagat vs Ben True vs Mead 9. Dieter Baumann 10. John Ngugi vs Andrew Lloyd vs Hamer 12. Yifter the Shifter kick 12.Gebrselassie vs Khalid Skah 11. Bekele vs Hicham El Guerrouj 12. 4x400m women's Race (Must Watch) foreign language  13. Farah vs Iguider vs Gebremeskel 14.
