Talk description: Connections and a sense of belonging are things that everyone wants. But it was what 5 year old Alex needed. After experiencing moving from his home country China to an unfamiliar place, Alex goes through the struggles of blending in and connecting with others. Until Alex breaks out of his shell to start asking for help, make connections, and give help to others. This Ted Talk is about Alex’s growth and experiences that taught him to fight for a sense of belonging, a connection with others, and how to ask for help along with giving others help. How does Alex adapt to the abrupt change that so suddenly happened in his life? Let’s find out! Alex is a 12-year-old student in Vancouver, BC. He is currently attending grade seven at Norma Rose Point elementary. Experiencing moving from his home country China to an unfamiliar place, Alex goes through the struggles of blending in and connecting with others. Alex is sharing many of his personal stories about how he fought for a sense of belonging. You are welcome to join Alex as he goes back in time and speaks about belonging, connecting with others, and the importance of help. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
