Travel Safety Tip Series....... I planned to do a series on travel safety tips and this one was a recent experience. I've never seen anything like this. Cambodia is a beautiful country but please be careful on choosing an ATM to use. Also stay aware and pay attention to the change (money) you receive back from any establishment. There's a lot of fraud and fake currency circulating through the country, specifically the tourist areas. I lost $200US and my friend lost $200US. Lessons learned. I'm sharing my experience to help educate and bring awareness. We were in Phnom Penh when this happened. We talked to some locals and some foreigners that live in the country that said the same thing. Be careful and safe travels!
