Raspberry Pi Thermal Camera Using FLIR Lepton and Pi Cam Modules

Canopy temperature combined with some ancillary measurements can be used for detecting plant biotic/abiotic stress, yield estimation, etc. Canopy temperature measurements can be carried out using either thermal imagers or infrared thermal (IRT) radiometers. The limitations of thermal sensors and recent advancements leading to less expensive, high-resolution thermal imagers have encouraged researchers to use thermal imagery in a wide range of agricultural applications. However, complicated image processing requirements and unavailability of commercial imagers suitable for continuous field measurements remain important challenges. Another issue is that majority of people in the agricultural research community are not familiar with image-processing basics and do not know how to extract useful data from thermal images. In this presentation, we will discuss our ongoing research on an inexpensive computer vision-based thermal imaging system (based on FLIR Lepton modules), which is capable of continuous field measurement and on-board image processing. A summary of the applications of the developed system will be provided. ------------------------------------- Project page: https://www.envitronicslab.com/bina-pro ------------------------------------- EnviTronics blog (articles and tutorials): https://www.envitronicslab.com/blog #RaspberryPi #Lepton #OpenCV #thermalcamera #automation #computervision #imageprocessing #ai #machinelearning #deeplearning #raspberrypi #arduino #zigbee #agriculture #farming #FLIR #Lepton35
