SWEDEN: Control Unit Preservation Explained A certified cash register system in Sweden must meet two requirements: 🔶It must be manufacturer declared and 🔶A control unit or a control system must be connected to it. The task of the control unit or a control system is to process receipt information and create control data which must then be available to the Swedish Tax Agency during an audit in the form of a control code. A control unit must receive and process receipt data per receipt from the cash register. The control unit and the information in it have to be saved for at least 12 months after its exchange or the end of usage of the cash register. An approved control unit must be able to store at least five years of control data. Even so, it may happen that the memory fills up before then. Then the control unit should be considered as broken and should be replaced.
