#Orchids #herebutnot #OrchidCare Watering phalaenopsis, phragmipedium, paphiopedilums and other orchids can be confusing depending on what you read online...what does, "evenly moist" even mean, am I right? I've put together this video to show you how I care for my orchids. It's not fancy, it's not complicated, it's routine and it's easy to do yourself. Why does it work? If you water a plant in bark for 30 seconds (like you would water a regular plant), the water tends to run off and go through the bark. Very little water is absorbed into the plant or bark and that's NOT GOOD. You want absorption! Soaking the plant briefly (3-20 mins), gives the roots a chance to absorb water. Plus, the process of filling the pot with water and flushing it leeches away salts that may have accumulated in the medium from the previous watering(s) so you don't end up with bad conditions at the roots from salt buildup.
