What Would Life Be Like on Planet Gliese 1214 B?

Gliese 1214 b is an exoplanet that orbits the star Gliese 1214. This planet is usually called GJ 1214 for short, but the majority of the public refer to this planet as the water planet. This planet is 7 times the mass of earth and 2.7 times the earth’s diameter. The entire planet is covered with water -- 75% of the planet is made up of water and 25% is made of rock. The planet is enshrouded by a thick, steamy atmosphere containing helium and hydrogen. Planet's temperature is around 248 - 539 degrees Fahrenheit which is causing the steam. Even though the heat is extreme, the atmosphere pressure stops the oceans from boiling. Due to the lack of any water in its liquid form, combined with a high temperature and pressure, it is highly unlikely that life could exist on this planet, but there is a possibility. Gliese 1214 b is thought to once orbit in the habitable zone around its host star which may have allowed life to exist in its warm oceans. As the orbit changed gradually down the years, life that exhibits the planet may have adapted to the changes. The Tardigrade can barely survive in temperatures greater than 300 degrees Fahrenheit which is 52 degrees higher than the average minimum temperature on this steaming planet, so it’s not impossible that life can exist on this planet.
