Classic Shepherd’s pie originated in the late 1700s in the United Kingdom, it was a way to introduce the potato to the poor. The recipe has many variations, but the defining ingredient is always lamb and should not be mistaken for its close relative the cottage pie. Rich in flavour and easy to make, this recipe for shepherd's pie will go down well on any cold winter day; married with a crisp fresh salad or some good old seasonal veggies you will always go back for more.
