Day Trip to Pompeii and Sorrento from Rome, Italy | Europe Travel Diary | The Karissa Diaries

Next stop on our European adventure was a day trip to Pompeii and Sorrento from Rome in Italy. Here we stayed for a the day and walked absolutely everywhere. We managed to visit a number of key locations. In Pompeii we visited The Forum, Boar House, House of Paquius Proculus, Fullonica of Stephanus, Stabian Baths, plus so so so many more! In Sorrento we enjoyed a pizza from Syrenuse which was amazing and then went for a stroll to overlook Leonelli's Beach for a few hours whilst enjoying gelato's, and being easily entertained by tourists photographing a seagull. Catching he Circumvesuviana train from Napoli to Pompeii was an interesting experience, as we kept getting delayed, multiple power outages and so many platform changes... It did not get these two grumpy tourists off to the best start to our Italian adventure! Thankfully it was only forty minutes to Pompeii and then queuing up for the tickets before entering the ruins (FYI - go to the toilet in Napoli at the train station, as the toilets at Pompeii - like most of Italy for that matter - have NO TOILET SEATS and these ones were very dirty). We managed to see a lot of the main attractions before the heat and humidity got the better of us and we bought another ticket to go further down the line to Sorrento where the ocean breeze was a very welcome relief.
