Old Rusty Pistol Restoration - Gun Restoration #restoration #pistolrestoration #gunrestoration Hi friends. After a long wait I am presenting you a gun restoration of which I think you will be interested in. This gun was in pretty rusted and old condition. At first glance, it was missing it’s wooden pistol grips. Also after I started the restoration, I realized that is was stuck. Cleaning with rust remover and sand blasting revealed what is under. Seperating the main body and the barrel, because of a detail I missed I spent too much time on it. Barrel had marks of “16” on both sides indicating is was a 16 caliber. All the rest pieces showed had marks of “28”. This was made purposefully so they would show a distinct piece direction. But I wasn’t able to understand the meaning of the number “28”. According to the research I made, I learnt that “28” was the plate number of the city called with the antique name of “Kerasus” located in the Black Sea region, still existing today. An interesting detail. I think the drive spring tensioner beneath the pistol cock was broken at some point after it was manufactured. There were lots welding in that area and the pieces weren’t fitting well to each other. I cleared away all this unaesthetical and badly fitting work done on this part and started the new restoration process. I renewed this part with more robust and aesthetic touches. Meanwhile, I started to think that this gun was all hand-made. I mean, lathes, milling machine and drills were used to create it but it wasn’t a product of mass production. Someone must have created this work out of their garage or some part of their house. Thinking about where it was made, I saw that accomplishing that would be possible there. Gun’s sight was wrong and incompatible. The space next to the sides of the main body and the barrel were uneven. I restored all the wrong parts and measurements. Tried to reach the perfection. I remade all the bolts and connecting pieces out of a bronze alloy. I nickel plated those bronze pieces. After getting all the corrosion and the deformations out, I sand-blasted the gun yet again and cold-blued it. Got a sharp, dark look. Details were thus silver and the gun black. I shaped the lost gun handle pieces out of root walnut wood and made a pattern on it using laser tech. I don’t want to spoil it by giving all the information here. The detailed video I made awaits you. Lastly, I want to admit to my incompetence using guns. You will agree with me watching the test clip. I had an interesting testing experience, but took all the necessary precautions. Both personally and to not harm anybody else. Let’s get right into the video. Have a good time in advance, friends.
