One of the most enjoyable experiences during my career in the music industry was when I had the privilege of playing with my good friends, George Kaye and Dermot O'Connor in a band called Mash. We recorded one album with Polydor Records, and then promptly disbanded. But the memories I have of our time together are precious - we toured Ireland and the U.S. Air Force bases in England, and had regular resident gig at the famous Tailor's |Hall in Dublin every Thursday night. This is one sample track from the album - George and Dermot singing in two-part harmony, with George on fiddle, me on banjo, and of course Dermot playing superb mandolin. I was blessed to have known you, Dermot, and proud to call you my friend - the fact that we got to play together was the icing on the cake. You will live on in my memory, and thanks for the wonderful musical memories. As my friend Niall Toner said, "he was a very talented musician, and a gentleman". Amen to that.
