Our Vietnam Adventure Begins! 🇻🇳✈️ Landing in Phu Quoc (Part 1). It's finally here! Our big Vietnam adventure starts NOW. Join us as we fly from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KUL) and get our very first look at Vietnam's famous "pearl island," Phu Quoc. In this video, we'll share the stunning views from the plane as we land at Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) and then take you along for the ride from the airport, showing you the real, unfiltered streets on the way to our stay. This is Part 1 of our Vietnam series on Ramliroamsworld, and we're so excited to have you with us from the very beginning! ✈️ TRAVEL INFO TO HELP YOUR TRIP ✈️ Planning your own trip to Phu Quoc? Here are some essential tips we learned right away. 💰 CURRENCY: The local currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND or ₫). It has a lot of zeros, which can be confusing! Quick Tip: Think of 25,000 VND as roughly $1 USD. (Always check the latest exchange rate before you go!). Cash is King: While resorts and larger restaurants accept cards, you will need cash for local eateries, taxis, and markets. ATMs are available at the airport and in the main town, Duong Dong. ☀️ WEATHER (As of June): Phu Quoc has two main seasons. We arrived during the rainy season (May - October). This means hot, humid days with a chance of a heavy, short downpour in the afternoon. The upside? The island is incredibly green and there are fewer tourists! The dry season (November - April) is typically sunny and less humid. 🚖 GETTING AROUND (Airport to Hotel): Distance: The airport (PQC) is conveniently located. The drive to the main town, Duong Dong, or the popular Long Beach area is about 15-25 minutes (10-15 km). Taxi Apps: The easiest and often cheapest way to get around! Download these before you land: Grab: This is the most popular ride-hailing app in Vietnam (like Uber in other regions). You can book a car or a motorbike taxi. This is what we used! XANH SM: A newer, all-electric taxi company by VinFast. Their green cars are everywhere and can be hailed or booked through their app. Estimated Cost: A Grab car from the airport to Duong Dong should cost approximately 180,000 - 250,000 VND. 📱 OTHER MUST-KNOW TIPS: Get a SIM Card: You'll need data to use maps and taxi apps. You can buy a Vietnamese SIM card right at the airport arrivals hall, or pre-purchase an eSIM (like Airalo or Holafly) before you travel. Visa: This is SUPER important! Visa requirements for Vietnam vary by nationality and can change. Please check the official Vietnamese embassy/consulate website for your specific passport before booking your trip.
