Congressional GOP calls for an end to Gaza solidarity protest on GWU, threatens action

Recent protests at college campuses across the country over the war in the Gaza Strip haven't gone unnoticed in the nation's capital, where Congressional Republicans have recently called for an end to protests in D.C. At George Washington University, protesters have set up an encampment in the University Yard that school officials said was in an unauthorized area. D.C. Police have been patrolling the area nearby as they have been stationed along H Street, where tents are also set up. GW requested MPD's assistance to relocate protesters. A law enforcement source told 7News MPD considered this request and felt the best course forward was continuing to monitor this protest, which has been peaceful, adding police would step in if it gets violent.
