Binaurals are back! But I'm pretty sure this one won't be appreciated by everyone. Let me explain. Almost 9 years ago I started uploading my first videos using the binaural recording technique, a special way of replicating the feeling of 'being there' by just listening to the recording with your headphones (find more details on 'how it works' further down in the description). Generally it's applied to record relaxing nature sounds but, being obsessed with engines and their sounds, I wanted to apply this method to my passion. My most avid followers will remember that these early videos featured me walking around the various race tracks with a GoPro on my head, trying to reproduce my point of view when I'm out filming at events. But they were full of little issues and things that neither I nor you liked. So I started doing static binaural recordings, which WILL STILL REMAIN the fixed format of these uploads! The video you see up here, however, goes back to those origins. I felt like doing it for a number of reasons, including having different and much better gear than 2016 on which I had to do some tests, having learned from other creators of this format and having the right opportunity in Imola with Ferrari XX Programmes cars (due to the bad weather they weren't going fast, so I didn't really feel like doing my classic shots). Thus the following video. If it had come out well I would have posted it on my secondary channel but personally it came out almost perfect so why not put it directly on ''Channel 1'ì? So what you see here is me walking around Imola Circuit and especially in the so called 'Parco delle Acque Minerali', Imola's park which spreads inside the race track approximately between the Variante Tamburello (T2-T4) and Acque Minerali (T11-T13) corners, during the first 30 minutes session of the day reserved for the Ferrari FXX Ks. I know many of you would have loved to see them up close but there're already many videos about these cars, in the same location, on my YT channel both recorded with binaural and in the classic way. What do you think? Would you like it if I were to replicate this format in the future? Please remember no one is forcing you to watch it for its entire length, especially when it comes to these binaural vids, which are all primarly for background listening. -- --- --- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- What the hell is a Binaural recording? -- Binaural recordings are reproductions of sound the way human ears hear it. Traditionally, recordings have been made using mono or stereo. Mono uses a single microphone while stereo uses two, spaced apart from each other. Binaural recording takes the stereo method one step further by placing two microphones approximately at the same average distance that exists between one and the other human ear. But that's not enough as to recreate the best effect microphones must have an 'obstacle' in their way which corresponds to our head. The physical influence from the head is the so-called Head-Related Transfer Function (or HRTF for short). This transfer function expresses how the head and ears affects the transmission of an acoustical signal from a sound source to the eardrums. If a car passes on your left side the sound will take a few extra microseconds to reach the right ear and it will also be louder in one ear (left) than the other. This is caused by the fact we have a thick skull and spongy brain between the two ears, so sound waves interact with the physical constitution of the listener and the surrounding space. HRTF is closely related to the individual shape of the human head, thus binaural recordings sound the best if recorded using your personal HRTF. However, in general, everybody experiences a much higher envelopment of the surrounding sound/3D effect if the recording has been done with a binaural microphone, even though the HRTF is not their own. -- --- --- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 0:00 Intro 0:14 Parking lot behind the main grandstand 2:49 Pedestrian underpass of the track 3:58 Paddock entrance with graffiti 5:35 Cool echo effect with the buildings behind 6:15 Walking parallel to the public road 8:34 Entering the park feat. birds chirping 10:07 FXX K Evo at Variante Tamburello (Turns 2-4) 11:45 Walking near the track 13:51 FXX Ks exiting Variante Tamburello 15:16 Ayrton Senna Memorial 16:00 Keep walking in the park 18:39 Historic water sources, now closed 19:49 Little lake with ducks and geese 21:17 Walking close to the Acque Minerali corner 24:35 Vantage point of the track/Acque Minerali corner 27:37 Exiting the park #BinauralAudio #RelaxingSounds #FerrariFXXK Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/19bozzy92/ Facebook: / 19bozzy92yt Instagram: / ste19bozzy92 Equipment: DJI Osmo Pocket 3, Custom-made Binaural Microphone + Zoom F3 Field Recorder Event: Ferrari XX Programmes Track Day 2025 Where: Autodromo di Imola, Italy THANKS FOR WATCHING!
