This is the Southern Section Championship race for the boys 400 Meters. The Southern Section Masters meet was held at Moorpark High School on May 20, 2023. Since the State meet only runs a single set of races, Southern Section must winnow down the best from their 4 divisions into a slate to be entered in the State meet. Generally, Southern Section sends the top 6 from each race to State. Xai Ricks had a season last year in which he continually trimmed his PR in the 400 right through to a second-place finish at State. Ended up 46.06 at State. Has 47.98 at SAC Relays this season. Runner-up Chase Hansen, a soph from Oaks Christian, went on to take 5th at State.
