A major clean-up effort is underway in the United Arab Emirates after heavy rain drenched Dubai. The storm forced the closure of the city's international airport as more than a year's worth of rain flooded sections of motorways, leaving vehicles submerged. More than 120 millimetres of rain fell in Dubai on Tuesday. Officials have denied claims that cloud seeding is to blame for the intense weather system. Scientists claim the record rainfall is almost certainly due to global warming intensifying the normal climate system.
