Since the Hero 5 and then the Hero 6 and Hero 7 many GoPro Hero users have been using small right angle, or 90 degree microphones for attaching to their GoPro via the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter usually via a vlogging rig like those by Ulanzi. Because the 3.5mm microphone input is now placed at the back of the Media Mod for the Hero 8, you can't attach such microphones if they are cardioid vlogging mics, or directional vlogging mics, to your Media Mod as the mic wont be pointing in the direction of your voice if you are in front of the GoPro vlogging. By adding this right angle 3.5mm jack extender you can now use your right angle mic with the Media Mod and Hero 8 and also re-position the mic to face forward at the top, side and bottom of the Media Mod Hero8 combination, into a position that best suits your needs. You can also turn the mic to face backward in case you want to vlog from behind the camera.
