"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged." I would not be surprised if this generation gets extended a year or two depending on how bad things really get for the market. According to Nintendo's own support, the Switch 2 Enhanced Editions were false advertising during the Direct. After trying to nail them down for an answer, they confirmed to one of our followers it's just Switch 1 cards with a code for the upgrade. No reason to buy these, then. For those who don’t know, Switch 2 Edition games are Switch 1 titles that are seeing release on Switch 2. This includes titles like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. If you already own any of those games (minus MP4B, obviously) for the Switch 1, you can simply purchase the upgrade pack digitally to get the new content and enhancements available exclusively to Switch 2 owners. Anyone who doesn’t have a Switch or one of these games in particular will be able to buy a complete “Switch 2 Edition” digitally or physically. For those going the physical route, one question has been popping up. When you buy that physical game box, what exactly is inside? Do physical Switch 2 Edition games include everything on a game card, or is there another setup? We might have some insight on this, thanks to a Nintendo UK support rep. I don’t think we really need another leap yet, so it wouldn’t be detrimental. Nintendo fans won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on the Switch 2.
