Instagram: / dreamcastguy Breaking: Nintendo is postponing Switch 2 pre-orders from April 9th due to the current tariff situation. "Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged." I would not be surprised if this generation gets extended a year or two depending on how bad things really get for the market. According to Nintendo's own support, the Switch 2 Enhanced Editions were false advertising during the Direct. After trying to nail them down for an answer, they confirmed to one of our followers it's just Switch 1 cards with a code for the upgrade. No reason to buy these, then. According to a Nintendo UK Support Rep, Switch 2 Editions of physical games like Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime 4 contain a download code for the upgrade pack along with a Switch 1 version cart of the game While it was rumored thanks to some fine print on Nintendo’s website, the Big N officially confirmed the existing of “Switch 2 Edition” games during the latest Nintendo Direct. For those who don’t know, Switch 2 Edition games are Switch 1 titles that are seeing release on Switch 2. This includes titles like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. If you already own any of those games (minus MP4B, obviously) for the Switch 1, you can simply purchase the upgrade pack digitally to get the new content and enhancements available exclusively to Switch 2 owners. Anyone who doesn’t have a Switch or one of these games in particular will be able to buy a complete “Switch 2 Edition” digitally or physically. For those going the physical route, one question has been popping up. When you buy that physical game box, what exactly is inside? Do physical Switch 2 Edition games include everything on a game card, or is there another setup? We might have some insight on this, thanks to a Nintendo UK support rep. I don’t think we really need another leap yet, so it wouldn’t be detrimental. Nintendo fans won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on the Switch 2. The successor to one of the best-selling video game consoles of all time is slated to release June 5, Nintendo announced during its hour-long livestream that fully lifted the veil on the Switch 2. You will have to wait a bit longer than expected to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2, though. After initially announcing a preorder date of April 9, Nintendo has delayed preorders in the US while it reviews new tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration. When preorders do eventually go live, the Switch 2 will be available on its own or in a bundle with Mario Kart World. It's unclear if the console and/or the bundle will receive price increases. Nintendo originally announced the console would cost $450 on its own and $500 with Mario Kart World in the United States. Here is the full statement Nintendo sent GameSpot on April 4: "Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged." Major retailers are starting to create store pages for the Switch 2 system as well as first-party accessories and games. GameSpot's Nintendo Switch 2 preorder guide will continue to evolve as more product listings pop up. In addition to the two Switch 2 console options, you'll find all of the first-party accessories along with pricing details and preorder availability for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games arriving on launch day and beyond.
