Crazy Modular Console! | Ayaneo 3 Unboxing & Review

Unboxing the Ayaneo 3 modular handheld gaming console, with a one week review of the gaming performance, battery life and hardware. This is one of the most expensive ROG Ally rivals in 2025, but is it among the best? Well, the Ayaneo 3 certainly sports a unique modular design, boasting swappable controls. But it's also quite janky at times, especially that Aya Space setup. Gaming on the Ayaneo 3 these past few days has been enjoyable enough. Avowed, Indiana Jones and other AAA PC titles play well on this handheld console, with only the occasional crash. I managed a consistent 30-50 FPS frame rate on the games I tested, with a variety of graphics settings. My review model of Ayaneo 3 boasts the 12-core AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, with Radeon 890M GPU and 64GB RAM. This certainly does the job for those more intensive titles, with comparable performance to the recent ROG Ally. Battery life is of course terrible, as with most gaming handheld consoles. You'll be lucky to get a full hour of play from a charged Ayaneo 3, if you're on the Extreme TDP settings. Less power-hungry games won't wipe it quite as quick, of course. But the modular controls of the Ayaneo 3 will certainly be a draw for fans of fighting games and FPS titles. Like the Steam Deck, you can have a dinky touchpad replace the Hall Thumbsticks, for smooth control.
