Interesting stories follow both islets: Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela) island was built after a shipwreck, when fishermen found an icon of the Virgin Mary with Christ on a cliff and promised to build a church there, while St. George island is called the haunted island because of the people buried on it. Sveti Đorđe (St. George) is a natural island with a Benedictine monastery from the 12th century and a small Catholic church dedicated to St. George.
