Bathurst Rally - Tom Clarke Interview

Tom Clarke missed the last MTA NSW Championship event, we catch up with him in the service park before the start of the Bathurst Rally. The Bathurst Rally is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested NSW Rallies in a long time. It’s Round 5 of the MTA NSW Rally Championship and because the series is conducted over 6 rounds and 12 heats, teams can afford to drop their two worst heat results because only the best 10 heat results count. There are 26 quality entries for this Rally, but the outright NSW championship is a battle between four very fast Mitsubishi Lancer EVO’s, with what could be considered the fastest four drivers outside the ARC. Tom Clarke won round 2, but didn’t go to round 4 as he was holidaying in Europe. That means he must finish well at Bathurst if he wants to win the championship. He and Hatton share servicing and pit areas and there is a lot of banter between the two drivers both at the event and in the lead up. Clarke and Co-driver Ryan Preston have been very quick all year and have usually been faster than Hatton and Wilkins, but struggled to keep up with Brinkman at the Border Ranges Rally.
