【4K】Walk at Wah Fu Estate | One of the most iconic public housing estate in Hong Kong

Wah Fu Estate is a public housing estate located next to Waterfall Bay, Pok Fu Lam in Hong Kong's Southern District. It was built on a new town concept in 1967 and was renovated in 2003. Divided into Wah Fu (I) Estate and Wah Fu (II) Estate, the whole estate has a total of 18 residential blocks completed between 1967 and 1978. There are several primary and secondary schools in the estate, including Pui Ying Secondary School, SKH Lui Ming Choi Secondary School and Caritas Chong Yut Ming Secondary School. They provide education to children in the estate and the surrounding areas. Fortuna Theatre is the only cinema on the estate. The original site of the housing estate was Kili Bay. It was set up as a public cemetery for Chinese when Hong Kong was established as a port, and was used as a mass grave during the Japanese occupation. In 1880, Donghua Hospital set up the "Feng Yi Tomb" here to bury some of the victims of the 1874 hurricane. Although the mass grave was closed in 1959 and moved to Wo Hop Shek Cemetery in Fanling, the mass grave became a stereotype of the Wah Fu Estate by the public, so there were not many applicants at the initial stage of its completion. In addition, it was located in a corner of Hong Kong Island, and there was only one bus line connecting the outside world. At that time, the two prosperous areas nearby Chi Fu Fa Yuen and Aberdeen Center had not yet been built. People described the Wah Fu Estate at that time as "deadly space". Besides, some households have become rich from time to time. Some feng shui experts believe that this is due to the unique geographical location of Wah Fu Estate. It is located on the southern seaside of Hong Kong Island and absorbs water from the south, which has the effect of prospering wealth. There is no way to check the feng shui theory, but it is certain that the environment here is first-class, with the mountains facing the sea, and the excellent location and the luxury houses are equally divided. Announced in the chief executive's 2014 Policy Address, Wah Fu Estate will be redeveloped. The new estate will be built nearby. It is planned that after the Wah Fu residents have moved to the new estates, Wah Fu will be redeveloped starting from 2024.
