During #PressConference 22nd June, 2021 - International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2021’s week long campaign has been initiated by Health Department Haryana, to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a state free from drug abuse. The campaign was inaugurated by Hble ACS Health Haryana Shri Rajeev Arora IAS in presence of DGHS Haryana Dr Veena Singh , Project Director Dr VK Bansal ,Actor Abheyy S Attrii, Miss India Universe Deepali Rajput , and Film Director and Producer Ojaswwee Sharma at Directorate of Health Haryana Never has inter sectoral collaboration been more important, never has there been an opportunity. An opportunity to realize that we can scale up prevention activities as integral part of primary health care & universal health coverage . International Day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking is a global observance day to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free from drug abuse. It is about life, about hope, of actions that make a difference and its about our future. It is also the story about people, people who help change lives, people who help save lives and its also about remembering & not forgetting. Remembering half a million mothers, fathers, sons & daughter who have loss lives to drug use every year. Each year over 1,00,000 people die due to drug over dose. But we have the chance to reduce that figure. We have the chance to make a difference. Effective solutions already exit. They are cost effective with high impact interventions, most of which operate at the community level. It does not just change someone with drug abuse. When we treat him, it changes a family It changes a community. The Psychosocial interventions are quite a wide range of activities & includes psychosocial support, social skill improvement and family integration. It includes educating youth about symptoms, over use, how to avoid over dose and fatal complications. With acceptance & support, people with drug use disorders are ready for change. Its like restoring human dignity. People are helping people; they are doing good things in society. So be Smart, Do not start.
