Baiyun district Tam Ga (Hung Ga)

This video shows the Hung Gar practiced in the Zhuliao area of Baiyun district in Guangdong provinces Guangzhou prefecture. The Hung Gar practiced in this area traces it's origins to Hong XiGuan / Hung HeiGoon's first student in Guangdong, Tan Min. Tan Min was known for his mastery of Hung Gar's San Zhan and Five Animal forms. His most famous student was Tan Jiyun, one of the Ten Tigers of Guangdong. The Hung Gar practiced in the Baiyun's Zhuliao region is often referred to as Tan Jia Quan / Tam Ga Kuen in honor of Tan Min. Tan Min's Hung Ga actually reached Baiyun by a few different routes, the first is through Tan Jiyun's son, Tan An who's student Feng YuXin was from the Zhuliao area. Feng YuXin and his son Feng Yihui. Both Feng YuXin and FengYihui went on to expand the curriculum by creating new sets. It is also said that Tan Min himself was invited by residents to open a school in the Zhuliao area and that his younger sister married a Zhuliao man. Among the rare sets practiced in this region are the "Twelve Bridge Hand Boxing" "both the "Short" & "Long" "Battle of the Five Forms" and the "Single Arm Boxing" This area is also known for it's Bak Mei Kuen.
