Grizzly Falls is a 0.1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail that features a waterfall, the Trail is good for all people with all skill levels. if you drive down Generals Highway through Kings Canyon Scenic Byway through Route 180 to the Cedar Grove Area of Kings Canyon National Park, you should make a stop at Grizzly Falls Picnic Area, the 0.1 mile loop trail is very short and easy, after walking for a 0.1 mile you will come across beautiful waterfall. The waterfall varies in size, it depends on by the amount of snowmelt above on the south side of the Monarch Divide. After a snowy winter, Grizzly Creek Swells and the waterfall widens to a frothing wall of white water. When there is less snow, Grizzly Falls retreats to the right side of the exposed granite, forming a channel of freefalling water that fans out as it splinters over rocks toward the base of the falls. Even in this diminished state, the waterfall is quite lovely. When we visited it was during Summer in July and the waterfall had diminished but still a wonderful view to visit. The water is so clean and clear, you can see the rocks beneath the water. The trail ends at Grizzly Falls and does not continue into the Monarch Wilderness farther up Grizzly Creek. Simply return to your vehicle once you’ve taken in the waterfall. Of course if you packed a lunch, the picnic area is a great place to linger. Info: Its National Park Fee, better suggestion to buy America The Beautiful Annual Pass, as it will cover for all National Parks and National Forest Areas. Picnic Area has a bathroom and a few picnic tables. Dogs are welcome and no permit is required to visit the waterfall or the picnic area.
