The powerful Vedic chant, Ashyaamatam Kamam from Rig Veda is rendered in Ghana Patha form with precision and clarity by Sri Govind Prakash Bhat Ghanapati & Sri K. Suresh. About the Mantras: This Powerful Blessing Mantra is taken from Rigveda; Mandala-6, Sukta-5, Mantra-7. The same Mantra appears in Krishna Yajurveda – Kandam-1, Prasnam-3, Anuvakam-14 and in Sukla Yajur Veda (Kanwa shaakha) Adhyaya-20, Mantra-43. We have given the text in Sanskrit with svara markings as per Saakala Saakha of Rig Veda. Meaning of the Mantra: O, Agni, let us win our wish with your help (Ooti). Our highest desire is to possess (Rayim) great wealth (Rayivaha) along with high energy (Suveeram). O, lord of wealth, let us receive your replenishing plentitude (Vaajam), you possess. O, ever living Agni, with your glory. These mantras are Puronu Vakya mantras in special Yagya (Kamya Ishti). PECULIARITY in reciting Ghana Patha of Rigveda: The Vedic recitation is as per the method followed in Tamil Nadu, India. This form of recitation takes lot of breath because, the Maatra for svarita/dheerga svarita is more. You can observe, the Dheerga svarita is also indicated by single svarita mark unlike Taittiriya Sakha of Krishna Yajur Veda. There is NO "Gm" in Rigveda, though Anusvaara is followed by Ushma (sa, sha, Sa) and ra. While reciting Ghana Patha, the reverse order of the words will be changed to "Pada Paatha" form, which complicates the Ghana recitation further.
