Lecture #8/12 - We provide a simple report generating tool for our application. We used the HTML file format for our reports since any programmer is familiar with HTML notation and no special software is needed to produce such files. Emphasis should be given to the design of the reporting tool: the tool includes an application specific top-layer (that provides the set of data that will appear in the report) and an application independent base-layer (that given the stream of data, produces the HTML type report files-based on a simple php routine writen long time ago). Therefore we believe it is much easier to switch to other file types (eg xls) if you so wish.
