English below Aflevering 5: Waalse kerk: Alles komt samen In de vijfde en laatste aflevering van onze miniserie komt het kwartet samen in de Waalse kerk. De Waalse kerk ligt verborgen aan het mooie Walenpleintje en is de voormalige rooms-katholieke kapel van het Sint-Paulusbroederklooster. De eerste kapel van het klooster werd gebouwd in 1409. Iedere zondag wordt hier om 11:00 een kerkdienst in het Frans gehouden. Voormalig koster van de kerk Nienke Meuleman vertelt over haar binding met de kerk, de Franse taal, de buurt en de muziek. Voor laatstgenoemde komen de leden van het Alegria strijkkwartet, met wie u in de afgelopen video's kennismaakte, samen en spelen zij een prachtig stuk van de Russische componist Aleksandr Borodin. ********************************************************************** BinnesteBuiten: De Wallen Verbonden. Digitale wandelconcerten op de Wallen. 5 videos, 5 locaties, 5 buurtbewoners, 4 musici! Ontmoet de buurt en haar buurtbewoners. Dit digitale project bestaat uit een vijfdelige videoserie die kijkers meeneemt langs verschillende bijzondere locaties op de Wallen en deze verbindt aan klassieke muziek. Na afloop van de vijfde video is er gelegenheid voor het publiek en de musici om elkaar te ontmoeten op een locatie in het centrum van Amsterdam om na te praten en elkaar (beter) te leren kennen. Houd voor informatie over dit evenement onze sociale media in de gaten! Tijdens dit evenement zullen eventueel geldende maatregelen in acht worden genomen. Door de aanhoudende corona maatregelen is het live-evenement als de voorgenomen wandelconcerten nagenoeg onmogelijk gebleken. Red Light Arts and Culture heeft daarom besloten het medium van de Wandelconcerten op de Wallen aan te passen en te transformeren naar een nieuwe, digitale vorm! Deze videoserie is mede mogelijk gemaakt door het Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst en Music Academy of the West. Tijdens het maken en opnemen van deze videoserie zijn alle maatregelen omtrent de coronapandemie in acht genomen. * * *English below Episode 5: Walloon Church: Coming Together In the fifth and last episode of our miniseries the quartet gathers in the Walloon Church. The Walloon Church lies beautifully hidden at the Walenpleintje and is a former Roman Catholic chapel of the Sint Paulusbroeders-monastery. The first chapel of the monastery was built in 1409. Every Sunday at 11:00 a French spoken service is held at the church. Former sexton Nienke Meuleman tells about her connection to the church, the neighborhood and the music. For the latter, the members of the Alegria String Quartet, which you have gotten to know in the past four videos, get together to perform a beautiful piece by Russian composer Aleksandr Borodin. *********************************************************************** InsideOut: Red Light, Connected. Digital walking concerts in the Red Light District. 5 videos, 5 locations, 5 local residents, 4 musicians! Meet the neighborhood and its residents. This digital project consists of a five-part video series that takes viewers along various special locations in the Red Light District and connects them to classical music. After the fifth video, there will be an opportunity for the audience and the musicians to meet each other live at a location in Amsterdam to talk about the videos and get to know each other (better). For more information about this event, please keep an eye on our social media! During this event all Covid-precautions will be taken into account. Due to the ongoing corona measures, we had to cancel the live walking concerts. Red Light Arts and Culture has therefore decided to adapt the medium of the Walking Concerts in the Red Light District and to transform it into a new, digital form! This video series was generously supported by the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts [AFK] and by an Alumni Enterprise Award from the Music Academy of the West. This video project was created and recorded following all the safety and health measures, rules and guidelines as per the Covid-19 pandemic.
