Russia and Ukrainians use of Mavic drones (Chinese manufacturing). How Russia buys equipment through middlemen. First Person Drones (FPV) are cheap "striking" drones that have had a big impact on war. Cutting supplies of Russian logistics. Russian government has more capital to invest in drone manufacturing and buying from China and Ukraine needs more European manufacturers. 45:30 - What are the big picture challenges and opportunities over the next 6 months for Ukraine? 46:00 - Kevin - Opportunity to use cultural advantages of Ukrainians to develop local "mission command" structures to out maneuver Russians on the battlefront. Importance of building up training and skills of junior officers. 51:30 - Dmytro - Lack of soldiers on the frontline is the biggest challenge. Civilian and military fatigue must be overcome. Governmental challenge to respond to the need for drone technology, manufacturing and innovation. Drone operators getting more professional training and becoming independent corps 56:30 - Is there a transformative technology on the battlefront that we should be supporting? 57:00 - Dmytro - No silver bullet. Russian glide bombs have been a huge problem that we need to adapt to and build counter measures. 58:30 - Kevin - Need to "outrange" the Russians in terms of precision weapons. HIMARS and other types of precise weapons 59:30 - Question - What do you think of Russia's threat to use nuclear weapons and how does that impact Ukrainian morale? Dmytro - Ukrainians don't believe this threat and don't take it seriously. Think it is a propaganda tactic to keep Ukrainian allies from providing more support. Kevin - There are multiple challenges for Russians to use nuclear weapons and doubts they will go this route 106:00 - Question - What is the state of support for mental health and wellness of Ukrainians? Dmytro - This is a big issue and will only get bigger problem in coming years Kevin - The need is being planned for and there is a gearing up of mental health professionals and medicine 108:00 - Question - How can we support your work? Kevin -- All volunteer military training team runs at a minimum of $2,000 a month for food, housing, and transit. Ideally would run on $7,000 a month. Dmytro -- All volunteer drone training effort costs about $15,000 a month to run the drone training school.
